So tonight I went to Gottfried Helnwein's show at his studio in downtown L.A. It was sponsored by the Jason Lee Foundation for the Arts (I'm still trying to figure that one out) and just about everyone was there. I turn to the right -- Sean Penn. I turn to the left -- Beck. Arnold is dropping off a gift. Kevin Smith is wandering around in big, baggy shorts and looking at Gottfried's larger works. Leo looks like a cat. Mena Suvari is upset about the flourescent lighting
...but Robert Brinkmann insists that they're actually sodium lights. Shannyn Sossamon shows up and we drink a beer together. My attorney is there (I mean, isn't everyone?) and he gives me some free legal advice. Someone from Sony promises to give me all the Playstation 2 games I've ever wanted (!). For some reason, one of the gallery spaces was so hot I felt like I was in a sauna. I had my iPod with me so I popped on some Yaz and tuned the world out. I've also never seen so much food walked around on trays (sea urchin ceviche, anyone?)....
